Symbiotic Ballet: A Portrait of My Inner World
Hello everyone. My painting, "Symbiotic Ballet," is a surreal fantasy with deep personal meaning. It explores my search for harmony between myself and nature, and the ways my autistic mind shapes that connection. This piece is not just a landscape—it's a layered narrative about transformation.
My Style: Pieces That Fit Together
I paint in a fragmented, mosaic style using fluid acrylic ink. This approach is central to what I want to express.
Tessellated Forms: I create figures from many small, distinct patches of colour, rather than blending them. This mirrors how my autistic mind sees the world—not as a blur, but as many vivid details that I carefully arrange into something whole and beautiful.
Holding It Together: The painting is full of energy, but the shapes stay anchored. I use the white space on the canvas like a stage, drawing your attention to the movement around it. The visible drips remind us that everything is constantly shifting and changing.
Colours: I use earth tones, such as brown and sienna, for the figure to give it a grounded feel. Then I add bright greens, teals, and glowing red and orange spots to show the lively, almost magical energy that moves through the painting.
The Core Idea: Don't Worry, It's Beautiful
This painting explores the Symbiotic Ballet, which is a graceful, ongoing blend of the human body and the forest.
Hybrid Me: The central figure is a blend of human and tree, which I refer to as a Dendromorph. This image stands for symbiosis—I am both grounded in and growing from the world around me.
Multiple Selves: The composition suggests two faces—one prominent and another emerging from the branches. This represents layers of consciousness, evoking the sense of an older, deeper self arising from the natural form.
The Scary Bits: The painting features skeletal branches and exposed roots. These dark details are not meant to shock you. They represent the fear we feel when facing the unknown, which is a natural part of being human.
The main message is that fear is not necessary when embracing the unknown. This painting illustrates that harmony can emerge from the interplay of uncertainty, change, and connection. The glowing spots highlight the vital energy I feel from this union.
This painting conveys my conviction that even the mysterious and unsettling aspects of life can be beautiful. True harmony comes when my inner world and nature are deeply connected.
